Bakersfield, California's own Blues Rocker Monty Byrom, may be best known as the talented, former lead singer for MCA Records phenomenon Big House. The sultry country rock and blues band dazzled the industry with gold sales of their self-titled debut album in 1997, capping off their success with an Academy of Country Music nomination for 'Top New Vocal Group of the Year' in 1998.
Having fronted several bands including 1980's 'MTV played' rock bands Billy Satellite, and New Frontier; Monty Byrom is well known in the music industry as a multitalented producer, songwriter, singer, and guitarist. Monty insists, "I'm really just a Blues singer, I grew up wanting to be Otis Redding, but I think that there just might be a bit too much of a rock edge. I'm still trying to sing like Otis."
Former producer and songwriter for Eddie Money, Monty toured with the Money Man for several years, and wrote or co-wrote some of his top hits. Eddie Money had a top pop hit with Monty's "I Wanna Go Back" for which Monty received a special ASCAP award naming it "one of the most played songs of the year."
In addition to Eddie Money, Monty has also worked with a number of the greatest names in the music industry including David Lee Roth ("She's My Machine" and "Don't Piss Me Off"), Brent Mydland, Betty Cantor Jackson and John Cutler of the Grateful Dead, Rita Coolidge, and a duet with Barbra Streisand. Monty has recorded with Brad Gillis (Ozzy Osborne & Night Ranger), Don Felder and Timothy B. Schmidt (The Eagles), David Sykes (Boston), Michael Baird (Journey), Johnny Van Zant (Lynard Skynard), and Danny Chauncey (.38 Special, The Greg Allman Band, and Billy Satellite).
Monty has worked on television and movie soundtracks in The Kids Are Alright, Sunset Beat, Secret Admirer, Made in America, Neil Simon's The Slugger's Wife, and Blackdog, featuring Monty's song "Roadman." Monty demonstrated his acting abilities in the Judds' made for TV movie: Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build A Bridge.
Monty Byrom is front and center as a solo artist, backed by some of the best musicians around. His most recent project was being reunited with Betty Cantor Jackson in Berkeley, California. Monty reports, "After 20+ years we didn't skip a beat and she's even more talented than ever. She has the truest set of golden ears that I've ever come across in my life, and I've worked with the best."
"Monty writes incredible songs ranging from powerhouse rockers to heart-breaking ballads...he plays electrifying guitar and possesses one of the most powerful and passionate voices in popular music. Monty is one of those rare and gifted talents. This man has that incredible something, and here's your chance to grab it.”
